| Just 4 Funk have been working in primary, secondary and sixth form schools and youth clubs for over three
years. We've developed a reputation for confident and effective teaching coupled with in depth understanding of the dance unparalleed in the region. Workshops with us give students the chance to learn the authentic techniques and foundations of breaking (AKA Breakdancing) properly in a safe and supportive environment. |
Students are also able to see demonstrations of
advanced moves they probably won't see anywhere else (except maybe TV). We have found breaking a great way to get people of all ages active, build self-esteem and confidence, develop team work skills and generally have a lot of fun. We have extensive experience working with students with learning difficulties, low confidence or self-esteem and behavioural issues. | ![]()

Introduction to Breakin' (AKA Breakdancing) Workshops.Photo courtesy of Exeter Phoenix A typical workshop with us involves demonstrations, a warm up and warm down, and a taught introduction to the main elements of this foundtion street dance style: Toprock (stand up dance), footwork (dance on the floor), powermoves (spinning moves) and freezes (balances,) go-downs and get-ups (transitions between standing and floor moves) and of course an opportunity to show off moves at the end. Contact us to find out more. |
Afterschool clubs. Photo courtesy of Exeter Phoenix For a more in depth experience of breaking (AKA Breakdancing), we are available for half-term and termly courses. This allows students to get much deeper with the dance and puts them in good stead should they choose to continue learning the dance or incorporate it into other practies. Often our after school clubs lead up to a show at the end of the project. Contact us to find out more. |
Schools and orginisations we have worked with include:
The Kings Secondary School, Ottery St Mary. Payhembury Primary School. Landscore Primary School. Spreyton Primary School. Copplestone Primary School. TR 14ers, Truro. Grenville PRU (Secondary and Primary), Exeter. Link Project, Torbay. Wolf and Water Arts Co. Atkins Secure Unit, Exeter. |
Half-day and full-day workshops Photo courtesy of Exeter Phoenix We also offer half-day and full-day workshops which are great for activity days. We often adapt these to schools based on themes and departmental requirements. These longer workshops allow us to get deeper with concepts in the dance such as style, presentation and character, as well as allowing students to build their own work. We adapt our workshops to the ability and confidence of each group individually. Please contact us to find out more. |
