Schools and youth clubs

Just 4 Funk have been working in primary, secondary and sixth form schools and youth clubs for over three years.

Workshops with us give students the chance to learn the authentic techniques and foundations of breaking (AKA Breakdancing) properly in a safe and supportive environment. Students are also able to see demonstrations of advanced moves they probably won't see anywhere else (except maybe TV).

We have found breaking a great way to get people of all ages active, build self-esteem and confidence, develop team work skills and generally have a lot of fun.

We have extensive experience working with students with learning difficulties, low confidence or self-esteem and behavioural issues.

We adapt our workshops to the ability and confidence of each group individually. They can also be adapted to meet specific curricular requirements or to fit in with a theme or topic.

Please email us for more information or to discuss any of the below.

Introduction to Breakin' (AKA Breakdancing) Workshops.

A taught introduction to the main elements of breaking (AKA breakdancing): Toprock (stand up dance), footwork (dance on the floor), powermoves (spinning moves) and freezes (balances,) go-downs and get-ups.

Email us for more information.

Half-day and full-day workshops

Great for activity days. These longer workshops allow us to get deeper with concepts in the dance such as style, presentation and character, as well as allowing students to build their own work.

Email us for more information.

Afterschool clubs.

This allows students to get much deeper with breaking (AKA breakdancing) and puts them in good stead should they choose to continue learning the dance or incorporate it into other practies. Often our after school clubs lead up to a show at the end of the project.

Email us for more information.

Intermediate/Advanced workshops.

For students who already have some experience, we can help you take your skills to the next level. Toprock, footwork, musicality, freezes and power including: Windmills, Swipes, Munchmills, One-shot headspins, Tracks, Jackhammers, Turtles, Halos, UFOs etc.

Email us for more information.
